Shine Country Throwdown at Virginia International Raceway
April 22nd – 23rd
We have 3 adrenaline pumping areas to play on this weekend. This will be a free roam event, meaning you can play on any course you wish throughout the weekend.
Rally Track – long track with high speed and plenty of jumps
Shooters Track – short track with high speed and plenty of jumps.
Obstacle Course – technical area testing your vehicle control skill.
We will have signs placed throughout the park guiding your way to each area. In addition, a map of the complex will be emailed to you prior to the event.

Mike Evock at Racing for Heroes with the approval of VIR has been working tirelessly the last 2 months on building 2 new amazing tracks for us to run on, Rally Track and Shooters Track.
Recently chosen as one of Car and Driver Magazine’s top six road courses in the nation, Virginia International Raceway is a multi-purpose road course offering professional and amateur auto and motorcycle racing, as well as a wide range of track events. Each year, VIR draws tens of thousands of spectators for some of the best road racing in the country. Its uphill Esses and sharp elevation changes not only make it a fan and driver favorite but have also established it as a prominent testing facility for the automotive industry.
While racing is the heart of VIR, the expansive 1,300-acre property located at the Virginia-North Carolina border is so much more. America’s first true “motorsport resort,” it’s an entire vacation destination with a number of onsite hotel and lodging options. WEEKEND SCHEDULE
7pm – Early check in for weekend event at Racing for Heroes facility located onsite at:
1100 Ace Drive
Alton, VA 24520
Look for the TORR registration sign at entry to VIR
8:00am – Final check in at Racing for Heroes facility
9:00am – Mandatory drivers meeting. Same area as above
9:30am – 6:00pm Tracks are open
11:00am-1:00pm – Lunch truck available in the vendor area
6:30pm-8:00pm – Dinner at the Gallery located next to the Patriot Track. One dinner voucher will be provided to each registrant. If you missed adding additional vouchers during registration, they will be available to purchase at the event.
8:15pm – Raffle will be held during the Banquet!

Knockout Competition at Rally Track
Rally track will be closed for Competition. Competition is open to anyone who would like to participate. There will be a cash prize for 1st place and trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A DOT APPROVED HELMET BE SURE TO BRING ONE
This will be a one lap knockout competition. We will put two trucks at a time on the track starting on opposite sides running in the same direction. The first one to cross their start line wins that round and will move on to round two.
The truck picks will be done by random drawing. Drivers will blind pick a token. Each token will have a match so you will be racing the driver who drew the same number as you. For example if you draw a number 2 you will be racing whoever also draws a number 2.
All winners from the first round will pick tokens again for round two line up. This will continue until there is one winner.
RULES TO FOLLOW
- THIS IS NOT A RACE! We cannot state this enough. Drive within your limits and OBEY ALL TRAFFIC LAWS.
- Your truck must have the following:
– Good tires with tread height more than 4/32
– Hard wired VHF radio programmed to channels.

– Chase lights
If you are missing any of the above you will not be allowed to participate and you will forfeit your registration fee. - 100% Sober Driving. Alcohol consumption or drug use will not be tolerated on the trails or anytime you are driving. If you are caught drinking you will be asked to leave.
- Everyone in your truck must sign a waiver. NO EXCEPTIONS. If you or any of your passengers missed signing the waiver during registration, please see a team member at check in.
- If there is an accident on one of the trails. Please NO PHOTOS. Parties involved need to have a chance to file a claim with their insurance provider, and any photos could make that process difficult.
PHOTOGRAPHY
We will have a team of photographers out there on both tracks all day Saturday working hard to capture you at your best. Photo packages are included with registration and will be provided on FB as well as via dropbox link by request.
SWAP MEET
We have been asked by quite a few people whether we would allow them to sell used parts at the event. Because of the apparent high demand for this we have decided to open a “swap meet” area next to the TORR tent. So, if you have any spare parts laying around you would like to try to sell feel free to bring them.
And just so you don’t miss any run time, we will have a TORR team member watching over your items and collecting holding your money for you. Please make sure that anything you do bring has your requested price and your contact info clearly marked on each piece.
WHERE TO STAY
We will have exclusive access to the new campground owned by Racing for Hero’s. Location for the campground and how to register coming soon. There will be RV hook ups, as well as primitive camping available. If you prefer a hotel below are a few in the area. If you would like to rent an RV we recommend using www.rvshare.com
